Every year, 40 billion plastic utensils end up in landfills. Even worse, many popular "bioplastic" alternatives demand specialized commercial processing that only 5% of U.S. facilities can actually provide—meaning they often end up in landfills where they persist for decades. Birchware offers a genuinely natural solution. Our birchwood tableware naturally breaks down, returning to the earth without leaving harmful microplastics behind.

We are a family-owned business based in Sonoma, California, built on the belief that great service and genuine care for the planet go hand in hand. Our owner-led approach means no red tape—just personalized support and quick solutions. When it comes to our products, we don't compromise. Our birchwood is naturally strong, heat-resistant, and backed by rigorous international certifications (like BRC Food and ISO 9001) to guarantee the highest quality and hygiene standards.

Sustainability is our origin story. We are proud members of the Plastic Pollution Coalition, actively working toward a world free of single-use plastics. Every piece of Birchware is responsibly sourced from FSC-certified forests and officially CMA Composter Approved to safely break down in commercial facilities. Our mission is simple: provide tableware that is built to last through your meal, but made to disappear entirely.
